KeyKeg has won the prestigious Belgian hotel and catering sector award in the category ‘Innovation’. The jury consisted of well-known representatives of the Belgian hotel and catering sector, including several beer and wine connoisseurs. It was striking that the evaluation of the jury included not only the advantages for hotels and catering and clear cost benefits, but certainly also consideration of the environmental benefits of KeyKeg. KeyKeg had previously been selected from the many hundreds of submissions as a finalist for most environmentally friendly packaging during the international Beverage Innovation Award.
Jan Veenendaal, CEO of Lightweight Containers and chairman of the KeyKeg consortium: “We are very happy with this evaluation. Precisely because it comes directly from the hotel and catering sector in a beer country with a worldwide reputation and where the production and consumption of beer are at a high level. No wonder that we have many Belgian brewers as clients. Besides the cost benefits, ease of use and environmental friendliness, the jury also considered the advantages of the prevention of over-carbonisation”.
