In American Rated X means that something is not allowed for kids, With Rated XX we’ve made a beer that’s SERIOUSLY not suited for kids. But on that note we have to admit, that we’re just kids ourselves. Nothing but geeky kids who love to play around with….hops. Most things have already been tried in the wondrous world of beer, but we seriously doubt that any other brewery has ever released a beer that contains: Zeus, Mittelfrüh, Brewers Gold, Crystal, Simcoe, Perle, Mt, Hood, Hersbrücker, Challenger, Fuggles, Liberty, Styrian Goldings, Columbus, Chinook, Amarillo, Bramling Cross, East Kent Goldings, Willamette, Palisade and Saaz hops in the same brew. Yep, you got it right, we’ve added no less than 20 (XX) different hops during our 120 minute boil. A new addition of hops every 3 minutes. To balance this hoppy hell we created a solid malt bill consisting of English Crystal and Maris Otter malts. Out of all this rises a fairly solid Imperial IPA that – not surprisingly – is rather hoppy. In your glass you’ll find a complex mist of hop aroma with the smooth peachy notes being the most prominent. Rated XX is the ultimate wet dream for all you hopheads out there. Try it now, ‘cause you’ll never get the chance again.
Our pale ale is brewed with inspiration from the ”American Pale Ale” beer type, which is characterized with high drinkability and the use of good aroma hops. The two hops Cascade and Centennial jointly add a fruity freshness to aroma and taste. You can sense both grapefruit and peach – as well as a note of pine. Christianshavns Pale Ale appears amber golden with a dense, creamy and lasting head, which leaves a discreet laze on the inside of the glass. The beer has a medium body with a somewhat sweet taste of malt, and you can sense a touch of caramel. The beer ends up with a light and dry bitterness, which tickles your taste buds and creates balance and harmony.
It is said that behind every tough, blunt, and brutal man stands a chaste, loving, and not least wise woman, which naturally applies in the beer world as well. As our most famous beer; Hr. Frederiksen, is a strapping fellow who enjoys admiring his own muscles, Mrs. Frederiksen is a clever woman who very well knows that you can walk almost just as far by saving some of your energy even though you are not as strong. The lady, however, is not exactly a light beer, but is toned down a notch compared to the gentleman. Being a little sweeter and not so roasted although having plenty of black malt, chocolate malt, and roasted barley, she is actually not a petite girl. And note that the Centennial hops lash out at you with their 75 IBU.
Welcome the lady – she is here to stay.
When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen's humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.
Bitterness: 81 IBU
